PIERRE, (KCCR) — The South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin work on two bridge structures next week in Lyman and Tripp Counties. Starting Monday, April 6th work will start on the White River Bridge on South Dakota Highway 47. Later this year, work will begin to repair the Willow Creek Bridge near Clearfield on South Dakota Highway 53. Both projects will involve removing concrete and repairing the current bridge decking. That work will lead to a new concrete overlay surface. Work on each bridge will be conducted in phases, with crews working on one lane at a time. Traffic at each project will be reduced to a single lane crossing the bridge, controlled with temporary traffic signals. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place during the work on the Highway 47 and Highway 53 bridges during active construction. Each phase is expected to last up to six weeks or 12 weeks total per bridge. Journey Group of Sioux Falls is the prime contractor on the one-point-four million dollar project. The Highway 47 part of the project should be finished by August with the overall project completed by October 30th.
