PIERRE, (KCCR) — The deadline for having petitions for political office postmarked has passed. That deadline was March 31st at five pm. While it is possible for more candidates to be added to certain races for the most part, what you see is what you’ll get on your ballots in a few weeks. In Stanley County, school board incumbents Chris Fosheim and Jessica Paxton-Deal were the only candidates to turn in petitions so no election is needed for the Stanley County School Board. In area legislative races a Senate primary is set for District 28, which includes Dewey and Ziebach Counties. Ryan Maher has submitted petitions and will have a race for Senate with Sam Marty. Incumbent District 23 Representative Spencer Gosch has turned in petitions for South Dakota House and will be in a three-way primary with Amber Werdel and former House member Dick Werner. Pending petitions submitted on time, but yet to be certified Mark Lapka will be unopposed for his District 23 Senate seat. According to the South Dakota Secretary of State candidate list page, no petitions have been submitted yet for District 27 House.
