While the Lincoln Patriots came up one win short of an undefeated AA state championship season, Sam DeGroot is awarded the Class AA player of the year headlining the Class AA All-State teams.
Only five players returned from last year’s All State teams while Huron’s Blake Ellwein makes his second straight appearance on the first team All-State team while being a three time All-State selection. DeGroot, the 6’7 for Lincoln averaged 20.9 points per game while averaging 8.6 rebounds per game. Ellwein had 22.6 points per game and 7.6 rebounds a game as the 6’10 senior will head to South Dakota State next season. Gavin Shawd of Tea Area, Stellen Larson of Harrisburg, Carter Buisker of Watertown and Brody Schafer of Lincoln all join the two on the first team All-State. State champion Huron also picked up Davis Chase on the second team. Lincoln would finish with the high three players to be on the All-State team this season.
