The All-State teams for all three classes for both the girls and the boys teams were awarded over the past week and Wagner’s Ashlyn Koupal headlines the girls Class A All-State team.
It’s the second straight player of the year award for Koupal as the 6’3 senior averaged 28.3 points per game with 14 rebounds a game, 4.4 assists and had 82 blocks over the season. Here points and rebounds per game were the best of any member to make the All-State teams from the first team through third team and honorable mention. It’s also her fourth first team all-state appearance as her illustrious high school career comes to an end. Koupal is joined on the first team by Ashlan Carlow-Blount of Mahpiya Luta, Addison Neuendorf of Hamlin, Taylor Reuvers of Vermillion, Lezlei Setzer of Sioux Falls Christian and Blake Thompson of Mobridge-Pollock. Both Mahpiya Luta and Lakota Tech each had three girls selected for the All-State teams, most of any teams in Class A. Region 6A would see Suni Bowman of Cheyenne Eagle-Butte on the honorable mention joining Thompson on the All-State teams. Thompson on the first team had 20.2 points a game while pulling down five rebounds a game in her senior campaign. Bowman, a junior, averaged a double-double at 14.2 points per game with 11.1 rebounds.
