Governor Tennis finishes 1-3 in West River Invite

The Pierre Governor tennis team would start 1-3 on the opening weekend of the season out west as the Govs beat Rapid City Central for its lone win of the weekend.

On Thursday, Pierre dropped its two matches to Rapid City Christian and St. Thomas More both by the score of 7-2. Marty Blanchette helped get three of those four wins in total on Thursday as he won his singles match against Rapid City Christian and doubles match with Jacoby LaRoche in singles flight six and doubles flight three. The duo won again against St. Thomas More with Brady Lowery and Levi Hight winning in doubles flight two. On Friday, Pierre started the day with a 7-2 loss to Stevens as Noah Lueking in flight two and Blanchette in his singles match would each get the wins before than a 7-2 win over Central to close out the weekend. Lueking, Lowery in flight three, Levi Hight and LaRoche and Blanchette would each win their singles matches while Lowery and Levi Hight in doubles flight two and LaRoche and Blanchette in doubles flight three finished off the dual win for the Govs. Blanchette finished the weekend at 6-2 as the only Gov witha  winning record. LaRoche did finish at 4-4.

The 1-3 Governors will be off until Saturday, April 11 when they travel to Huron.
