Team South Dakota 16U girls are now 2-0 at the USA National Tournament picking up a 3-1 win over the Mid Fairfield Connecticut Stars Thursday morning in St. Louis.
Oahe’s Kallee Behm would assist on the first goal of the game just minutes in as Sioux Falls’ Emma Honner made it 1-0. Mid Fairfield would tie the game at 1-1 with just seven seconds remaining in the first period, but Sioux Falls’ Lucy Nelson would get the game winning goal in the second and add a power play goal in the third to push Team SD’s record to 2-0. Sioux Falls’ Moriah Lincoln would stop 21 of 22 shots to get the win in net. It was Behm’s first point of the tournament and second including the High School Girls National Tournament. South Dakota is on the fast track to advance out of the Liberty pool to the quarterfinals on Saturday.
Team South Dakota wraps up pool play at 8:00 AM Friday morning against the Valley Jr. Warriors out of Massachusetts.
