A couple of Oahe Capitals will represent Team South Dakota 14U girls team as they travel to Rochester, Minnesota to begin the USA Hockey National Tournament today.
Taylah Allerdings and Mallory Lehrkamp will compete for Team SD in a three game pool play with eight teams qualifying for a three round single elimination tournament to be played Saturday and Sunday. Allerdings won six games including a shutout while having a 2.55 goals against average in her first year at varsity. Lehrkamp had 10 goals during the varsity season for the Capitals, but had 30 goals and 41 points for the 14U team which won the state title. Team SD will open up the tournament against Honeybaked, Michigan at 1:00 today before taking on the New Jersey Colonials at 9:15 Thursday morning and finishing pool play Friday at 5:00 against Traverse City Northstars out of Michigan. With the 12 team tournament, Team South Dakota will need to be one of the eight teams to reach the quarterfinals on Saturday.
