(Aberdeen, SD) – The Sully Buttes Chargers would drop all three games at the state tournament this weekend after falling 72-53 against top seed Viborg-Hurley on Saturday. The Chargers finished the season 18-7 overall and eighth place at state.
The Chargers would hold a two point lead going into the half time break, but the duo of Jake Austin and Brady Schroedemeier that would combined for 50 points in the win. The Chargers had a duo of Wesley Wittler who finished with 18 points on the day; and Easton Moore who missed just four shot in total all game long scoring 23 points in the loss.
Sully Buttes ended up shooting 31% from the field and 30% from three point land while the Cougars shot 44% from the field and just 22% from three.
The Chargers in their first time back in the state tournament since 2019 would go 0-3 and will graduate three seniors in Wesley Wittler, Gavin Colson, and James Miles.
