(Aberdeen, SD) – The Sully Buttes Chargers led 39-32 going into the final eight minutes against a strong De Smet team. However, a four point 18-4 fourth quarter output from the Bulldogs spoiled the Chargers chance for a fifth place game 50-43. Sully Buttes will take on top seed Viborg-Hurley at 11 a.m. Saturday morning.
The Chargers shooting struggles carried over into day two shooting just 26% from the field in the loss Friday afternoon. While defensively the Chargers kept the Bulldogs top scorers in check, the three point shooting from De Smet helped them pull away. They ended up shooting 50% from outside the arc.
The closest quarter was the first after a buzzer beater floater from Easton Moore gave the Chargers a one point lead at 12-11. The second half was flipped results from the third quarter to the fourth. The Chargers outscored the Bulldogs 18-8 in the third. De Smet outscored Sully Buttes 18-4.
Wesley Witter led the scoring for Sully Buttes with 19 points. Jett Yackley and Easton Moore both finished with 10 points. Gavin Colson added four in the contest.
