PIERRE, (KCCR) — Agtegra Cooperative is breaking ground next Friday on a state-of-the-art feed mill just east of Faulkton in Faulk County. The new mill will have a 100-thousand ton capacity that will prioritize biosecurity and produce grind-mix bulk feeds for swine and poultry farms in the state. The mill will be constructed next to Agtegra’s current elevator, where it will grind local corn and blend it with soybean meal, vitamins and minerals to create complete feed rations. Using more local corn will create a consistent value-added market for area farmers with reduced transportation costs. The project is being done in part to a 254-thousand dollar South Dakota Jobs Program grant Agtegra obtained from the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development. Agtegra also received a second South Dakota Jobs grant in the process. That grant is for 85-thousand 800 dollars and will go for expanding fertilizer manufacturing and storage operations in Ipswich, Bath Kennebec in Lyman County and McLaughlin. The Kennebec facility will see new storage tanks, packaging and warehouse expansion to double fertilizer capacity.
