PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Pierre City Commission is meeting tonight at the Pierre Municipal Building. The meeting will begin with two items of special business. The first is recognition of the T-F Riggs Culinary Team and the second is an update on the Euclid Avenue Reconstruction project. Commissioners will then consider approval of a loaded consent calendar. On top of approval of claims and minutes from last week’s meeting, the calendar includes a new hire for the wastewater department, a new volunteer firefighter application and three raffle requests. The raffle requests are filed by PAWS Animal Rescue; Central South Dakota Recreation Committee and Countryside Support and Memory Care. Setting a date for a public hearing for a temporary Alcohol License for the Lake Sharpe Showdown is also on the consent calendar. That leaves only three items of new business for the Commission. Commissioners will consider approval of requests to purchase a message board for the street department and a service truck for the electric department. The Commission will also make note of city office changes for the Good Friday holiday. The Pierre City Commission meets tonight at 5:30 pm. The meeting is open to the community.
