The Dakota State Trojans are heading to the NAIA Round of 16 in Sioux City, Iowa this next weekend after two dominating wins on Friday and Saturday in Madison.
Friday night, the Trojans beat Grand View by 51, doubling up the Vikings 102-51. Dakota State opened up the first quarter with a 22-2 lead. The Trojans outscored Grand View in each quarter and had a 48-22 lead at half. Teel Tabor led the team with 17 points and 12 rebounds to grab a double-double. Caitlin Dyer had 15 and Bria Wasmund had 12. Pierre’s Ryann Barry pulled down four rebounds and grabbed two assists in the first round win.
Game two was similar to game one with a 104-74 win over Bethel as Dakota State outscored its opponent in all four quarters again leading 29-16 after one and 49-30 at the break. Dyer had the team high 18 points but it was another double-double for Tabor with 15 points and 10 boards. Barry again grabbed another two rebounds in the win for the Trojans as the three seed advances to the Round of 16.
Dakota State will face Indiana Wesleyan, the 10 seed in the Naismith quadrant on Thursday, March 19 at 3:00 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City.
