The NAIA national tournament begins today as the 64 team field is set with the first and second rounds to play this weekend. Dakota State will host four teams in quadrant one Friday and Saturday.
Pierre alum, Ryann Barry and the Dakota State Trojans are the three seed in quadrant one and will host Concordia, Nebraska along with Bethel and Grand View. Dakota Sate will face Grand View with Concordia facing Bethel with both games today. The two winners will meet on Saturday for a spot in the Sweet 16. Dakota State is 26-5 on the season finishing 19-3 in the conference. Dakota State had won four in a row before falling to Montana Tech in the Frontier Conference Championship. Barry, in her first year with the team, has appeared in 19 games and is averaging 1.2 points per game. After transferring from Chadron State, she is still a freshman in eligibility. She’s one of eight South Dakota girls on the squad.
Tip off is at 5:30 for Dakota State and Grand View with Concordia and Bethel to follow. Saturday’s game will be at 6:00 all in Madison.
