It’s been almost 30 years since the Stanley County boys basketball team has been in the state tournament and tonight, the Buffs can end the drought as they face Flandreau in the SoDak 16 in Miller.
Stanley County is 19-2 on the season and had to play just one game so far this postseason to reach the SoDak 16 beating Chamberlain on Friday. The Buffs will face Flandreau in the 6-11 matchup where the Buffs and Fliers don’t have much history. Flandreau is coming in at 15-7 and have won four in a row and seven of the last nine heading into tonight. The Fliers received fourth in 2022, their last trip to the state tournament and last won it all in 1997. The two teams didn’t meet in the state tournament with Red Cloud beating Stanley County in the first round before the Buffs beat Roncalli in consolation semifinals.
