(Onida, SD) – As far as you could play home games this basketball season. The Sully Buttes Chargers are off to the SODAK 16 after a 56-44 win over Faulkton Area on Friday night at home. The Chargers will now take on Dupree for a chance to head to Aberdeen next week.
The Chargers first quarter output was the best of the night outscoring the Trojans 19-9 after one quarter play. Wesley Wittler would score the 15 of the first 19 points of the night for the Chargers and would finish with 29.
The Chargers never would allow Faulkton get to within five the rest of the way. The Trojans got as close as nine of the Chargers. The Chargers outscored the Trojans in the final three quarters 37-36.
Sully Buttes defense would end the night causing 15 turnovers while shooting 39% from the field and 72% from the free throw line. Wittler led the scoring with 29 points on the night, Jett Yackley scored 10 while Easton Moore scored 8 points, Karsen Miles with 4, Gavin Colson finished with 3 points and Cooper Faulkenhagen with 2 on the night.
With the win, Sully Buttes returns to the SODAK 16 and will face Dupree in the 8-9 seed match-up in Gettysburg. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Wyatt Burichka will have the call on Country 95.3 on online at Country 95.3 Sports on YouTube.
