The Pierre Governor girls basketball team will have a daunting task facing the O’Gorman Lady Knights in the 2-15 SoDak 16 matchup tonight in Sioux Falls before the Governor boys take on the Huron Tigers in the 3-14 contest.
The Governor girls face the 19-1 Lady Knights who only lost to undefeated Brandon Valley in the regular season. It was a 81-25 blow out win for OG back on Friday, January 30 at home. Now, the Govs will go on the road to face the Lady Knights. O’Gorman has won all 19 in a row and haven’t lost since the opening game of the season. Pierre is at 5-15 falling in the final three games of the season and four of the last six overall. For seniors Jasmine Jost, Emery Larson and McKenzi Flottmeyer, they will look to extend their basketball careers for another three games with a major upset of O’Gorman on the road.
The Governor boys will be on the road to Huron on Saturday trying to upset the Tigers in the SoDak 16. Pierre is 6-14 on the year and will face Huron at the Huron Arena for the second time this year. The Tigers were able to win 54-39 back on February 10, but on Saturday, Pierre will look to shoot better from the field and also take their Friday night loss to 16-4 Roosevelt and use it as momentum where the Govs had a chance to upset the Roughriders losing by just two 62-60 and having a chance to win in the final seconds. Huron comes in having won seven straight.
Tip off is at 6:00 tonight from O’Gorman High School in Sioux Falls. Tip off is at 6:00 on Saturday in Huron. Saturday’s game will be on KCCR with Jeff Duffy on the call.
