The Stanley County Buffaloes had a split decision on Tuesday on the road in Mobridge as the Lady Buffs would fall 70-21 while the boys would win 52-46
In the girls game, the Lady Tigers jumped out to 18-7 lead after the first quarter before a 42-14 halftime lead and sending the game to a running clock early in the third quarter. Stanley County will fall to 1-18 on the year while the Lady Tigers improve to 15-4. Addy Deal would lead the Lady Buffs with 10 points in the loss while JoRoyah Walker had seven. Mobridge-Pollock was led by Faith Heil with 13 points as well as Blake Thompson scoring 13 off the bench. Tegan Konold had 11 as a total of 10 players scored on the night.
It was the first loss at home for the Mobridge-Pollock boys as the fourth quarter started to get chippy with both teams receiving technical fouls although game play itself didn’t feel as chippy. The Buffaloes are now 16-2 on the season while the Tigers fall to 10-7 as the Buffs get the massive win over an above .500 team and a team who was undefeated at home. Stanley County led for the entire first half before the Tigers took a small lead in the third quarter and led 36-35 after three. However, Stanley County didn’t go away. Weston Prince went 8-8 from the free throw line on his way to 11 points and helped seal a win for the Buffs being 4-4 in the fourth. Stanley County made just three shots in the fourth but were able to go 10-15 from the line to pick up the win. Eddie Duffy led the Buffs with 15 points while Paxton Deal had 14 as nine total players found the score sheet in the win.
Stanley County girls will finish the season on Friday in Little Wound as part of a doubleheader with the girls playing first around 6:30 Central time and the boys game to follow in Kyle.
