The Stanley County Buffaloes will be on the road tonight to face the Mobridge-Pollock Tigers with the boys game to be a very important game for both teams.
The Lady Buffaloes have just two games left in the regular season and will face the Tigers tonight before finishing the regular season at Little Wound on Friday. Stanley County is 1-17 on the year and see the top team in Region 6A tonight in the Tigers. Mobridge-Pollock is 14-3 on the season and 1.5 seed points ahead of Miller. The Tigers have won eight in a row and their three losses this season have been to Hamlin, Sioux Valley and Lyman who the three teams have combined for four losses. The Tigers are 10th overall in Class A. Stanley County could jump up to the sixth seed with a win, but without getting two wins will likely be the seventh seed in the region tournament beginning next Tuesday.
The boys contest will be a big one for both teams. Stanley County is trying to keep pace in the Class A standings sitting in eight place overall heading into tonight. The Buffs, at 15-2, are needing to beat the 10-6 Mobridge-Pollock Tigers so they don’t fall back in the Class A standings and help solidify the spot as the top team in Region 6A to give themselves a bye in the quarterfinal. The Tigers can help provide the security with the above .500 record if the Buffs win, but the Tigers are coming off a loss to Groton Area on Saturday after beating Sully Buttes on Thursday, one of the two teams Stanley County has lost to this season. To make a deep postseason run, both teams feel like this is a must win.
Tip off of the girls game is at 6:30 with the boys game to follow from Mobridge.
