CHAMBERLAIN, (KCCR) — Last week, South Dakota sculptor Dale Lamphere and his wife Jane Murphy signed over the exclusive copyrights to Dignity of Earth and Sky, the 50-foot tall recreation of a Native American woman accepting a star quilt overlooking the Missouri River in Chamberlain to the South Dakota Hall of Fame…
Proceeds from the sale of officially licensed Dignity merchandise will be distributed for Native-led cultural events, the Hall of Fame itself and the Lamphere School for the Arts…
Lamphere calls the Studio for the Arts his last great work…
Lamphere says the initial donation to the Studio is three-million dollars which will be matched with donated funds to create an endowment to sustain the Lamphere Studio for the Arts into the future. The Lamphere Studio for the Arts is located in Sturgis.
