(Selby, SD) – The Sully Buttes boys basketball team picked up a win late Tuesday night against the Herreid/Selby Area Wolverines in Selby 61-45 which saw no lead changes or any ties in the contest. They now improved to 12-4 on the season.
The Chargers started off big in the first quarter outscoring the Wolverines 20-8. What would look like to be a run away game for Sully Buttes was completed thrown out the window. Despite the Chargers having a 17 point lead at one point. While the Wolverines did have a better second quarter output 13-10; The Chargers still held onto a nine point lead 30-21 going into the halftime break.
The Wolverines would fight back cutting the Sully Buttes lead to with two at a couple of points in the game. The Chargers however never surrender the lead and fouls the fourth quarter allowed the Sully Buttes to sink their free throws in the fourth quarter. Easton Moore and Wesley Wittler picked up three point drought the Chargers saw on the contest only going 3-15 from the field. Moore and Wittlers high scoring night helped Sully Buttes in the second half. They outscored the Herried/Selby Area 31-24 in the second half to take the 61-48 victory on the road.
Easton Moore and Wesley Wittler did the scoring in this game scoring a combining 49 points. Wittler lead the scoring with 25 and Easton Moore with 24 points in his stretch of high scoring nights for the Chargers.
Sully Buttes improves to 12-4 on the season with just four games left in the regular season. Sully Buttes will host a double header Thursday night against Molbridge-Pollock.
