The Pierre Governors will face the Yankton Bucks and Gazelles tonight with the girls making the long haul to Yankton and the boys will be hosting in their lone game of the week.
The Governor girls will host Tea on Saturday this weekend for two games this week as both teams come into tonight at 3-8 on the season after both teams lost on Friday. Yankton lost to undefeated Brandon Valley 66-38 as the Govs lost to O’Gorman 81-25. After a stretch of playing the top four teams in the last five, the Govs will see a team below them in the standings tonight on the road as Yankton is currently 15th while the Govs are 13th. However, it’s not a time to think the game will be easier, but Pierre does want to show they are a better team because of one of the toughest stretches in AA basketball this season. It’s also the fourth of the last five games on the road for Pierre.
The Governor boys are looking to get back in the win column after they lost both games to Harrisburg and O’Gorman on Friday and Saturday this week as they are 4-9 on the year. Yankton, though, is 1-10 on the year and outside of the SoDak 16 currently and have lost seven straight heading into tonight’s contest. The Bucks lost by five to Brandon Valley on Friday and it will be the first time in six games for Yankton to travel even though they went 0-5 during the long homestand. It’s the lone game of the week for the Govs who will travel to Huron next Tuesday.
Both games tip off at 7:00 with the boys game on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call. The girls game can be viewed on KYNTV with Brayden Butler on the call.
