Paxton Deal would hit the 1000 point club Saturday night at the Dakota State Classic in Madison as the Stanley County Buffaloes would beat the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds 65-46.
Deal hit the 1000 point mark early in the second quarter, but he didn’t stop for the night. Deal had five first quarter points but 11 in the second and finished with the game high 21 points leading the Buffs to a now 12-2 record. Eddie Duffy had 13 while Jax Hoftiezer had nine as a total of nine different Buffaloes scored on the night. Wolsey-Wessington jumped out to an 8-4 lead early in the first quarter but the Buffs closed out a 10-2 run to lead 14-10 after the first and built a 12 point lead at the half and led by as many as 20 in the win as Wolsey-Wessington drops to 10-6, but a key win against a good team with a good record for the seed points to start to go back up for Stanley County.
Stanley County will travel on Tuesday to face the Todd County Falcons in a doubleheader with the girls tipping off first around 6:30 with the boys game to follow in Mission.
