The Pierre Governor basketball teams would split its two games against the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles with the boys winning 53-31, but the girls would lose 57-36.
The Governor girls had its third straight game against a team in the top five of the AA standings as the Golden Eagles moved to 9-3 on the year with the Governors dropping to 3-7. Molly Olson led the Govs with 12 with Emery Larson finishing with seven. The Golden Eagles, who led the entire way, were led by Kamdyn Borge who scored 15 second half points to have the game high as Kenadi Withers had 11 and Taryn Hermansen had 10.
The Governor boys would lead the way throughout the night to a 22 point victory to secure its second win in the last three games as the Govs improve to 4-7 on the season as Corde Austin had the game high 22 points for the Governors. Caiden Ahartz finished with 14 and Cooper Terwilliger had 13 points which included a double-double with another 13 rebounds for the Governor big man. Luke Swanson led the Golden Eagles with nine as no Golden Eagle reached double digits with the Gov defense holding Aberdeen Central to barely 30 points on the night.
The Governor girls will finally be back at home after a three game road trip as they host O’Gorman on Friday with the boys traveling to Harrisburg and O’Gorman on Friday and Saturday for a pair of weekend contests.
