Hall of Fame night did not disappoint in the second half of the doubleheader as the Stanley County Buffaloes would knock off Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 67-52 while the Lady Buffs would fall 81-50.
The Lady Buffs would get to the line a lot in the loss to the Braves as they would be in the bonus barely a minute into the second quarter as the Lady Buffs would go a total of 18-30 from the line, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with Cheyenne-Eagle Butte who led 25-14 after the first and 45-33 at the half extending it to a 23 point lead at halftime. Addy Deal led the Lady Buffs with 23 points on the night while Kynzi Hall had 11 with seven of those 11 coming from the free throw line. The Lady Buffs fall to 0-13 on the season while the Braves improve to 8-4.
In the boys contest, Paxton Deal’s half court shot to beat the buzzer in the second quarter extending the Buffs lead to eight at the break as Stanley County would extend the lead to 52-38 at the end of the third quarter as the top two teams in 6A battled for the number one spot, each with just one loss on the season. Eddie Duffy’s 11 points in the second and Tegyn Breitag’s 10 third quarter points helped secure the win for the Buffs who were also a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Duffy finished with the game high 24 points while Breitag finished with 17 and Deal had nine. Stanley County moves to 10-1 while the Braves fall to 8-2.
Stanley County will have two games on Tuesday in two different locations. The girls will travel to Gregory while the boys will host Sully Buttes. The boys game will be on Country 95.3 and on YouTube at Country 95.3 Sports with Wyatt Burichka on the call.
