PIERRE, (KCCR) — The South Dakota House passed a bill Friday to help counties with the cost of mailing license plates and registration renewal decals. Representative Mike Weisgram of Fort Pierre says the increasing cost of postage is making the convenience prohibitive…
The last fee increase for mailing vehicle registrations was three years ago. Weisgram says current state law makes the scenario even worse…
Representative Phil Jensen attempted to amend the bill saying residents shouldn’t be saddled with more fees…
The amendment would have only assessed the actual mailing costs if approved. House Bill 1034 survived the House floor on a 42-22 vote and now moves to the South Dakota Senate.
