(Onida, SD) – Sully Buttes and Stanley County girls basketball returns to the court Thursday night in what will be a momentum game to grab going into the second half of the season. The Chargers will host the Lady Buffalos in a stand alone game in Onida.
The Chargers enter at 1-10 on the season after losing a tough contest to Timber Lake 57-49 on Tuesday. Sully Buttes currently are riding a five game losing streak going up against Stanley County. The Lady Buffalos will look to win their first game of the season. Starting the season 0-11, Stanley County has put up fights in the season but has not had games fall in their favor. Their closest game was a lot to White River 50-49 in December. Their last contest was a 47-31 loss against Jones County.
The Chargers and Lady Buffalos have had multiple common opponents entering Thursday’s game. Phillip, Highmore-Harrold, Herreid/Selby Area, and Lyman are the common opponents this season. They combined to go 0-8.
It will be the 17th meeting since 2006. Sully Buttes have ran away with the series with 15 wins. The Chargers have won the last 12 meetings including last season winning 38-26. The Lady Buffalos last win would come all the way in December of 2009 where they won by three 52-49.
