The Pierre Governor basketball teams would each get 23 point wins on Tuesday with the girls winning 69-46 while the boys would finish off a 61-38 victory.
In the girls game on the road, once Pierre took the lead midway point of the first quarter, the Govs never looked back in the game to improve to 3-5 on the season and stop a four game losing streak as the Govs were led by Molly Olson who had a game high 20 points in the win while Emery Larson would in another 16 points on the night and Jordyn Kirkie had 11 as the three were in double figures to lead the Govs to victory while the Douglas Patriots fall to 1-6.
In the boys contest, Pierre trailed 8-7 in the first quarter unable to hit shots early on, but the Govs outscored the Patriots 22-2 in the second to take a 29-10 lead at the break and would hit the 30 point mark in the fourth quarter as the Govs were able to outscore the Patriots 37-11 in the middle frames to secure the win to stop a five game losing skid and move to 3-6 on the season while Douglas falls to 1-6. Corde Austin had a monster night with a 30 point game while Sincere Wilson had nine points off the bench. The Governors won the turnover battle on the night to help force the score to be a wider margin.
Pierre will take on Brandon Valley on Thursday as the girls will travel and the boys will be at home. Both games will tip off at 7:00 with the boys game on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
