PIERRE, (KCCR) — Due to the Martin Luther King holiday three local governing boards will hold their meetings today. Two, the Pierre City Commission and Hughes County Commission are regularly scheduled. Fort Pierre has moved its normal Monday night meeting to tonight. The Pierre City Commission meets tonight at 5:30 at the Pierre Municipal Building. That agenda includes only two action items; agreement revision approvals with the Western Area Power Administration and a request to abate property taxes. Fort Pierre City Council members have a noticeably longer agenda. They will give second reading to the annual utility rates ordinance and will consider approval of a temporary liquor license and 2026 dray, plumbing and electric licenses. The Council will also set two public hearings and consider an amendment to the contractual agreement they have for a Finance Officer. The Fort Pierre City Council meets tonight at the South Dakota Municipal League meeting room at six pm. The Hughes County Commission meets Tuesday afternoon at the Hughes County Courthouse.
