Three boys varsity games, all at home this weekend for the Oahe Capitals taking on Huron, Brandon Valley and Sioux Falls West at the Expo Center in Fort Pierre.
Starting the weekend tonight, the Capitals will look to sweep the season series against the Huron All Stars after beating them 5-2 in Huron on Friday, December 19. The All Stars are coming in at 2-10-1-1 on the season having lost eight straight which started with the loss to the Caps and lost 11-0 and 16-0 to Rushmore this past weekend. Mason Hunter leads the team with nine goals on the season.
Saturday, the Caps will also look to sweep Brandon Valley after being them 8-3 in Brandon just a couple of weeks ago. The IceCats are 1-8-0-2 with its latest game being the first win of the season against Huron 4-3 in overtime as Max Peters would get the game winning goal on the power play. Both the All Stars and IceCats are needing wins to try and climb the standings to make the state tournament as they are three and five points out of eighth heading into the weekend.
Then on Sunday, the Caps face Sioux Falls West trying to avoid being swept by the Flyers. Oahe lost to West 7-1 on Saturday, November 29 and will be looking to win it’s possible fourth game in a row on Sunday if they beat Aberdeen on Saturday. The Flyers are 7-3 currently and are led in scoring by Jackson Breuer’s 13 goals while Jackson Dunn leads the team with 13 assists.
All three games will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with puck drop at 8:00 on Friday, 6:15 on Saturday and 3:45 on Sunday at the Expo Center in Fort Pierre. Jon Winkler will have the call.
