The Stanley County Buffaloes outscored the Philip Scotties 20-2 in the second quarter to storm out to a first round victory at the Jones County Invitational 66-22 Thursday in Murdo.
Nine different players would find the score sheet as the Buffs led by 29 at the break and the running clock would be enacted in the third quarter. The Buffs forced 17 first half Scottie turnovers with 26 overall in the game and led from the first made bucket. Paxton Deal would have the game high 29 points with 14 in the first half while Eddie Duffy had 14 with 10 in the first half. Stanley County was 14-21 from the free throw line. Carson Fugate had a team high seven as the Scotties go 0-2 against the Buffs this season. Stanley County advances to the semifinal of the Jones County Invitational Friday night.
The Buffs will take on the winner of White River and Bennett County to start the Friday night session at 6:30 for the first semifinal in Murdo.
