(Onida, SD) – Sully Buttes would have a huge bounce back win against Ipswich Tuesday night after falling to Sioux Valley on Saturday. The Chargers would score over 15 points every quarter in a 74-52 win. Sully Buttes have won 16 straight home games dating back to last season.
The Chargers pace of play would pay big in the win forcing 18 turnovers and allowing ten less overall. Adding 10 threes and shooting 74% from the free throw line. They also were tested with the scoring depth of their team with four finishing in double digits.
The first quarters was the closest of the game with a 19-17 score after one quarter of play. The Chargers converted on three threes in the beginning with Easton Moore leading the way with sevens points in the first. Sully Buttes struggled to defend the three as well in the first giving up three of from the arc.
Sully Buttes added 18 more points in the second quarter scoring the first eight points of the second quarter. The Chargers scoring depth would be test after the their leading scorer Wesley Wittler exiting the game due to an injury and they responded in the second half.
Third quarter was the highest scoring quarter with 21 points. Jett Yackley would have a big quarter scoring 12 point in every way from the line, inside and outside the arc. The Chargers held the Tigers to 15 points but force a lot of tough shots in the third and fourth quarter. Sully Buttes added 16 points in the fourth to seal the win on Tuesday. The Chargers had four in double digit scoring. Jett Yackley finished with 22, Easton Moore and Gavin Colson finished with 17, and Wesley Wittler scored all 11 points in the first.
