The Harrisburg Tigers outscored the Governors 19-4 in the second quarter to help propel to a 55-28 win over the Pierre Governors in Pierre on Thursday.
It was just 9-6 after the first quarter as both teams struggled to find the basket in the first, but the second quarter is the difference in the game. Harrisburg forced Pierre into missed shots and grabbed offensive rebounds for second chance points and the Tigers led 28-10 at the end of the first half. Lyncoln Tryon, Taylor Nedved and Claire McCallum each had 11 points to lead the Tigers as Tryon hit three threes in the second. Harrisburg forced the Govs into 16 turnovers and Pierre went 0-6 from the free throw line. Emery Larson led the team with eight while McKenzi Flottmeyer and Molly Olson each had six for the Govs who drop to 2-4.
Pierre will host undefeated Washington on Saturday with the boys traveling to face the Warriors in Sioux Falls. Both teams will have tip off at 2:00 with the girls game on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
