The Oahe Capitals would grab three second period goals to win its way to an 8-3 victory over the Brandon Valley IceCats in Brandon on Saturday night to improve to 7-3.
The Caps played in Brandon for the first time ever with the IceCats hosting its first season on its home ice. The IceCats would score first as Tripp Stevens would give the IceCats the 1-0 lead midway through the first. But Dylan Dodson would answer it, his first of three goals on the night as it was 1-1 after one. On the power play early in the second period, while credited to Ayden Behm, Brecken Furhman would take a shot on a 2-on-1 and the rebound would be knocked in off of Bridger Babcock to score the go ahead goal giving the Caps a 2-1 lead. Oahe would get an Asher Vanden Bos and Behm goal to lead 4-2 after two periods. Logan Brown and two Dodson goals would put the Caps up 8-2 before a late goal by Brandon Valley would get the final tally. Noah Lueking would get his third win of the season stopping 22 of 25 shots.
Oahe will return home for just its second and third home games of the season facing Yankton Saturday and Sunday. Both games will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
