(Phillip, SD) – Sully Buttes basketball was back in action on Tuesday night to conclude their 2025 portion of their season in Phillip. The Sully Buttes girls saw their best output on the season in a 58-47 loss. The Chargers boys would improve to 4-0 after a 70-46 blowout win against the Scotties.
The Sully Buttes girls had their best game of the season despite a loss. The offense executed a lot of offensive sets and controlled the pace of the game for parts of the game. The Chargers were able to create turnovers as well having the Lady Scottie with 16 turnovers on the night. Sully Buttes would finish with three in double digit scoring with Berkley Birney (12), Scotlynn Kinney (10) and Myli Weischedel (10). While it wasn’t enough for the Chargers to get the win, the momentum created in the game will be something they will look to use later in the season.
The Charger boys would start off slow in their first road game of the season but after an early timeout, The Chargers would charge forward to a running clock win 70-46. Sully Buttes would outscore the Scotties 23-7 in the second quarter would give them a big lead at the end of the first half. A running clock after the first position in the second half would help the Chargers come out victorious adding 25 more points in the second half. Four Chargers would finish in double digit scoring led by Jett Yackley (19), Gavin Colson (18), Wesley Wittler (14), and Easton Moore (13). Sully Buttes continue to undefeated start to the season.
Sully Buttes girls drop to 0-5 on the season with a contest on Saturday beginning their first of four games in a week span. They will at Aberdeen Christian Saturday. The boys move to 4-0 on the season and will be back home against Highmore Harrold Thursday.
