The Stanley County Buffalo basketball team is hitting the court for the first time in 2026 as the Buffaloes will be host the Herried/Selby Area Wolverines in a girls and boys doubleheader.
The Buffalo girls are still searching for its first win of the season as they take on the 2-1 Wolverines. Stanley County is 0-5 after falling to Philip to close out 2025. The Lady Buffs had scored 40 plus points in the two losses prior, but the offense could only get 15 points in the 60-15 loss. Herried/Selby lost to Aberdeen Roncalli in its latest game falling 57-36. The Wolverines picked up wins over Timber Lake and Sully Buttes in December.
For the Buffalo boys, they look to remain unbeaten at 3-0. The Buffs dominated Philip after coming off the buzzer beating win against Winner on the road. The Wolverines split with Bison and McLaughlin to open the season, but had its game against Faulkton Area postponed to close 2025. Both teams have had two full weeks off between games as the Buffs look to use home court advantage especially if the teams are trying to shake off the rust from the long layoff of games.
The girls will play first around 6:15 with the boys game to follow at the Parkview Auditorium in Fort Pierre tonight.
