The defending state champion, Rushmore Thunder would remain unbeaten on Saturday with a 12-3 win over the Oahe Capitals inside the Thunderdome in Rapid City.
Rushmore is now 11-0 on the season and have given up a total of 10 goals in those 11 games. However, besides giving up four goals to Brookings, the Capitals have scored the most goals against the Thunder so far this season. The Thunder would score four goals in the first before Tryton Parmely would score the Caps lone goal of the second to make it 4-1, but it would be 6-1 after two. However, Logan Brown would score two goals to start the start the third period pulling the Caps within three at 6-3. But the Thunder have just too much fire power to play from behind as they would score six in the third as Andrew Welling would get a hat trick along with two goals from Caeyn Howard, Wyatt Reeder and Cameron Ritter. Jace Hand would stop 43 of 55 Rushmore shots as the four game winning streak for the Caps would be stopped as Oahe is now 6-3 on the season.
Oahe will face Brandon Valley on Saturday on the road with a 5:00 puck drop. The game will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
