The Oahe Capitals will be on the road on Saturday to face the defending state champion Rushmore Thunder in the lone game of the weekend.
The Caps will try and do something no team has done since the 2023-24 season and that’s beat the Thunder in league play. Rushmore went undefeated last year winning the state championship and are 10-0 heading into the weekend. The Thunder have allowed just seven goals in ten games and four came in the 6-4 win over Brookings, the second game of the season. The Thunder are averaging 11 goals per game and are led by Wyatt Reeder with 23 goals and 24 assists. Reeder had over 100 points on the season last year. Meanwhile, the Capitals are 6-2 and have won four straight heading into the weekend beating Huron and Watertown last weekend. Oahe is led by Dylan Dodson’s nine goals and seven assists as he and Brecken Furhman each have 10 plus points.
Puck drop is at 7:30 Central Time Saturday night at the Rushmore Thunderdome in Rapid City.
