FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — Just days after water restrictions were put in place then dropped in the City of Fort Pierre, they are back on again so work can be completed on the Mni Wiconi Core Line. The new water restriction is effective as of 10 pm Monday night. The first round of restrictions happened Wednesday night on December 10th but rain and freezing rain forced work crews to withdraw and hold off until a future date. The restrictions were lifted the next evening around 7:30 pm. With mild weather in the forecast the next few days and snow melting away work crews will try again. The current rounds of restrictions are in place until further notice. There is no indication given when the connection of the new Core Line to the existing Core Line will take. Fort Pierre is asking customers to limit unnecessary water usage during the restrictions in an effort to preserve water capacity for fire protection. Anyone with questions is asked to contact the City of Fort Pierre at 605-223-76-90.
