After having the weekend off, both Oahe Capitals varsity teams will be on the road this weekend with the girls playing Sioux Center and Sioux Falls while the boys face Sioux Center twice.
The Lady Capitals are starting the weekend tonight against the Storm in Sioux Center. It’s the first of three meetings, but the Caps will have to travel back to Sioux Center later in the season. Oahe is 3-1 with its lone loss coming against Brookings in the latest game. The Caps were the early more dominant team, but the Rangers were able to get early goals to gain the advantage and get the win. Tonight, they face the 1-4 Storm who beat Rushmore last weekend for its first win. Then on Saturday, the Caps will get to see the defending state champion, Sioux Falls Flyers. The Flyers are still unbeaten at 4-0 with a win over Brookings a couple of weekends ago. They are outscoring their opponents 28-2 in those four games. The Caps are led in scoring by Brenna Ullman, Dakota McEntaffer and Mallory Lehrkamp, each with two goals.
The Capitals are coming in after beating Mitchell and Aberdeen in the opening weekend before then falling in both games against the Sioux Falls West and East Flyers moving to 2-2 on the year. The Caps will take on the Storm team who has struggled to open the season with an 0-5 record and have lost by run time in all five games to this point. The Storm have scored just once in five games, in the 11-1 loss to Sioux Falls East. They are currently being outscored 71-1 in those five games as the Storm are looking for their first win since the 2023-24 season when they won five games. Oahe is led by Dylan Dodson’s four goals through four games while Ian Schweitzer and Ayden Behm have two goals each.
