The Pierre Governor gymnastics team would get the team score win on Thursday in Huron winning the triangular to open the year beating Huron and Chamberlain.
The Governors would score a team score of 128.65 as Chamberlain would place second with a 125.85 and Huron in third at 114.95. The Governors were able to have the best team score in three of the four categories of the night.
Rebecca Spitzer would put up the best score individually on the night with an 8.95 in the beam, winning the event. Spitzer also had an 8.4 in the vault for fourth place, a 7.15 in bars for fifth and 7.95 in floor. Teammate Madelyn Merrill would follow closely either behind or ahead of her in all categories as Merrill would place fifth in the vault at 8.35, second in the bars at 8.0, fourth in the beam at 8.2 and third in the floor at 8.7. Merrill would place second in the All-Around with a total score of 33.25 while Spitzer placed third at 32.45. Myclane Sheppick was fifth at 31.5 and Jaelynn Muldoon was sixth at 30.25. Muldoon also placed second in the floor routine at 8.8, her highest score and finish on the night.
