The Oahe Lady Capitals would beat the Rushmore Thunder Friday at home 8-4, but fall to the Brookings Rangers 5-0 on Saturday on the road to finish the weekend at 1-1.
On Friday, the Caps had to comeback from two different one goal deficits as Rushmore led 1-0 and 2-1, but Dakota McEntaffer would tie the game each time in her first game of the season coming off a shoulder injury. Emily Nemec would give the Caps a 3-2 lead, their first of the game before Mallory Lehrkamp scored twice, once on the power play as the Caps led 5-2. After Rushmore got within two at 5-3, Brenna Ullman would score another powerplay goal and the Caps would lead 6-4 at the end of two periods. Ava Lavinger and Addison Hunsley would add a goal in the third to help put the game away as the Caps would move to 3-0 at the time. Kylee Fromm made 15 saves on 19 shots in her third straight win.
On Saturday, the Caps were the bearer of bad fortune. Oahe would outshoot Brookings early in the game by about 10 shots on goal, but the Rangers would score four first period goals to lead 4-0. Kinzey Grendler had two goals with Sawyer Triplett and Miyah Forester would all score as the Caps had the shot advantage of 13-7 in the first period. Triplett would add her second goal of the game, on the powerplay in the second period as Brookings held the 5-0 lead for the final 24 minutes of the game. Taylah Allerdings would come in, in relief and stop 28 of 29 shots.
The Capitals are 3-1 now on the season and will have next weekend off before traveling to Sioux Center on Friday, December 12 and Sioux Falls on Saturday, December 13. Both games will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
