Heading into the 2024-25 Oahe Capitals season, the boys team was seeing more guys play their first JV and varsity games than those returning with varsity experience. Now, the Caps will have plenty returning this year.
The Oahe Capitals will open the season this weekend with games against Mitchell on Saturday and Aberdeen on Sunday. Oahe returns its top goal scorer and point getter from last year as Dylan Dodson enters his senior campaign scoring 23 goals and 18 assists last season. Ayden Behm returns with 13 points from last year and Tryton Parmley had 10 points for the Caps. Other than those three returning, every one else will look for increased roll as all will have more experience heading into the season. The Caps will also have a new goaltender between the pipes after Jaxon Jungwirth started all 22 games last year for the Caps. Oahe will have a total of five goalies between JV and varsity. Landon Badger, head coach of the Oahe Capitals says you’re going to see the depth and the growth of this team starting from game one…
Badger says while Mitchell has lost their top scorer from last year, they’re still going to be tough…
The Capitals saw Aberdeen during a jamboree several weeks ago and while the Cougars have lost a lot of seniors from last year’s team, Badger says it’s going to be a battle…
Badger says the Caps need to stick to the plan this weekend…
Coverage of the two games will begin at 7:40 on Saturday and 2:40 on Sunday on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call. We’ll hear from Jim Wedin, head coach of the Oahe Capitals girls varsity team on Friday.
