PIERRE, (KCCR) — Hiring in the middle part of the country last month was all over the map according to results of the October Mid America Business Conditions Index released by Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Economist Dr. Ernie Goss says the October number not good, but higher than September…
Goss says hiring numbers could get worse moving forward given indications that the Federal Reserve will not consider an interest rate change in December. South Dakota’s hiring index for October on the survey was 47-point-six. According to the latest published federal Bureau of Labor Statistics data, South Dakota’s involuntary layoff rate for July was point-nine percent, compared to one-percent in July of 2024.
