PIERRE, (KCCR) — Law enforcement and state prison officials continue to search for a Pierre women’s prison inmate who did not return from an overnight work release assignment. Latoya Shangreaux is a 37 year-old Native American female who is five-foot-six inches tall and weighs 205 pounds. Shangreaux has brown hair and eyes with visible neck tattoos. She failed to return to the Pierre Minimum Center overnight Friday into Saturday. If you see Shangreaux, you’re asked to contact law enforcement. Failure to return from an assignment is considered second-degree escape, which is a Class Five felony; with a maximum penalty of five years in prison. Meanwhile, Saturday 33 year-old Travis Long Fox died in a Sioux Falls hospital. Long Fox was serving multiple sentences at the same time including a grand theft charge in Hughes County; and an intentional damage to property charge in Stanley County and second degree burglary in Sully County. He was also serving time for two crimes in Minnehaha County. Long Fox was found unresponsive in his cell November 4th when he was transported to the hospital and died November 7th.
