The SoDak 16 is an opportunity for fans around the state to potentially see teams they haven’t watched all year in their backyard. Tonight, Stanley County High School is hosting two SoDak 16 matches.
The first matchup will be the Class A contest between the seven seed Groton Area and then 10 seed Rapid City Christian. While the Comets haven’t been to Stanley County, Rapid City Christian was in Pierre back in the 2022 season when the Govs and Comets played for a couple of years in a row. However, this Rapid City Christian team is much different as Pierre and Rapid City Christian haven’t played in the last two seasons. The Comets are coming in at 28-11 while Groton Area is at 25-5. Groton was the top seed in its region while Rapid City Christian was the second seed. The two teams haven’t met in at least the start of the decade.
In the second match, Burke will take on Herreid/Selby Area in the 6-11 matchup of the Class B SoDak 16. It’s the second meeting since 2023 when the two teams met in the SoDak 16 which was actually played in Chamberlain. Burke won the match in four sets and will look to do the same this time too as the higher seed. Burke is coming in at 29-6 while Herreid/Selby Area is 25-6. Both teams were the top seed in their respective regions.
First serve for Groton Area and Rapid City Christian is at 5:30 while Herreid/Selby Area and Burke will have first serve after which is scheduled for around 7:00.
