The Miller Rustlers will look to reach the state tournament for the fourth straight year tonight as they take on the St. Thomas More Cavaliers in Murdo in the Class A SoDak 16.
The Rustlers had to play just one game last week to reach the SoDak 16, beating Chamberlain in three sets which they were led by Kate Litchy with 11 kills while Emma Pugh racked in nine aces on the night. The 23-7 Rustlers task will be much tougher tonight when they face the 28-9 Cavaliers. St. Thomas More also only had to play one game to reach the SoDak 16 as they were the top seed in Region 8A. St. Thomas More swept Hot Springs last Thursday and are coming in having won 10 in a row with a couple of those being out of state and out of class wins. Linda Deboer, head coach of the Rustlers can’t recall ever playing St. Thomas More in volleyball so it is all a new team. Deboer says St. Thomas More reminds her of the Rustlers…
Another challenge is the Rustlers haven’t played in Murdo at the Harrold Thune Auditorium, but Deboer says she’s not worried about the girls adjusting to the new court…
Deboer says Miller has to be balanced offensively…
First serve tonight will be at 7:00 from the Harrold Thune Auditorium in Murdo.
