The Pierre Governor volleyball team will finish out the regular season tonight at home as the Govs host the Jefferson Cavaliers needing a win to still make the playoffs.
It comes down to this day for the Governors to make the SoDak 16. A win for the Govs gives them a chance to make the SoDak 16 next week Thursday with a little bit of help. But if the Governors don’t get the win over the 9-12 Cavaliers, they will miss the SoDak 16 this year if they don’t pick up the win tonight, regardless of other outcomes. The Governors are coming in at 3-16 on the season and have lost six straight since beating the Lennox Orioles on Saturday, October 11. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers are struggling compared to last season after they were the two seed in the playoffs last season. The Cavs will be on the road in the SoDak 16 even with a win tonight as they’re currently 11th in the AA standings. Jefferson will also play Aberdeen Central on Thursday. Pierre will need a win and a Sturgis and Tea loss to make the playoffs.
Coverage of the regular season finale will begin at 6:00 with first serve at 6:30 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
