The Pierre Governors will close out the regular season tonight hosting the 0-8 Douglas Patriots looking for a business type win to gear up for the playoffs starting next Thursday.
The Governors are coming off an incredible comeback game last Friday in Spearfish where they trailed 21-0 in the first quarter and would still beat the Spartans 45-28. Two injuries happened in the same play for the Governors which left Carter Merrill and Tucker Otte out for the remainder of the season, in the first quarter. The Governors battled through the adversity and found a way to dominate the game. Steve Steele, head coach of the Governors says last Friday’s game is a major turning point in a lot of ways…
The Patriots are coming in at 0-8 and have struggled to keep teams out of the end zone and get into the end zone offensively. Douglas has scored just 26 points all season and have not scored 10 points in any game. For Pierre, they don’t want to overlook the Patriots, but they want to take care of their own business and be able to get different guys in throughout the game all night to keep guys healthy, but also making sure they get some work in tonight. Steele says success will be measured in a lot of different ways this week…
Steele says the biggest key is to execute tonight…
Coverage this evening from Hollister Field in Pierre begins at 5:30 with kickoff at 6:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
