The Stanley County Buffaloes would score all night to a 52-6 running clock victory over the Gettysburg Battlers on the road Friday finishing the season with a win, but falling short of making the playoffs.
Landon Bame had an incredible night as he went for four rushing touchdowns while Weston Prince would throw for another four touchdowns, three going to Paxton Deal and another going to Case Kolda as the Buffaloes led 32-6 at the end of the first half and shortly after started the running clock with first two touchdowns in the third quarter. Gettysburg’s only score in the game came down just 14-0 as they were looking to get its first win, but stay in the game. Stanley County’s defense forced turnovers and short drives allowing the offense some short fields, but to also just stay in rhythm throughout the evening. Gettysburg finishes at 0-8.
Despite the win, Stanley County, who entered as the 16th team in the standings, needed some help to ensure a playoff spot. Unfortunately, the Buffs didn’t get the help and ended up dropping to 17th, the first spot out of the playoffs.
The Buffs will graduate seven seniors including Prince, Deal, Kolda and Bame along with seniors Teegyn Breitag, Brednon Bothwell and Coy Ludemann. Stanley County finishes the season at 3-5.
