FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — Stanley County Schools are holding two special events with students in the next few weeks. United Day is first up on Wednesday October 22nd. United Day is designed as a powerful movement to stand up against bullying and the promotion of acceptance among students. To show support for Unity Day, businesses and community members should wear orange, display orange decorations, contribute messages to the schools Unity Tree and post messages to the event page on the Stanley County School page. Stanley County Schools will also be marking Red Ribbon Week October 27th to the 30th. Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s largest drug prevention campaign. Students will take part in theme dress up days, wear red to promote drug-free living and sharing messages on a drug-free pledge wall. They will also be participating in the Miles in Quarters campaign. Businesses are encouraged to set out jars or donate to the school to see if a mile worth of quarters can be collected. Those with questions can contact Nichole Hahn or Keely Bracelin at the Stanley County School District.
